Fulbright

 

The Fulbright Scholarship is a prestigious and competitive scholarship program that allows students, scholars, and professionals from around the world to study, conduct research, or teach abroad. The scholarship is funded by the U.S. government and is aimed at promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the United States and other countries. Recipients of the Fulbright Scholarship have the opportunity to pursue their academic or professional goals in a foreign country, while also serving as cultural ambassadors for their home country. 

The Fulbright Program, which has been in operation since 1946, is the largest program of scientific exchange in the United States. Its mission is to foster cooperation for the development of science, culture, and interpersonal and interinstitutional relations between the U.S. and the more than 160 countries in which it operates.

The call for applications for the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission scholarship programs is now opened for: Junior Research Award, Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine, Graduate Student Award, Graduate Student Award LLM in International Human Rights Law at University of Notre Dame, Senior Award, and STEM Impact Award.

 

Junior Research Award 2025-2026

 

A program for people with Polish citizenship preparing a doctoral dissertation in Polish scientific institutions. The aim of the scholarship, lasting from 4 to 10 months, is to carry out one's own research project at an American university, non-profit research institute or non-governmental organization in the United States, related to the subject of student’s doctoral dissertation.

Applications are accepted from all fields, with the exception of projects requiring direct contact with the patient. Applications for the 10-month Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine 2024-2025 are also open as part of the competition. The call for applications is open until 6 September this year.

Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine 2025-2026

 

A programme for students with Polish citizenship preparing a doctoral dissertation in Polish scientific institutions in the following fields: cellular, molecular or structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics or related areas, with the exception of projects requiring direct contact with the patient.

The aim of the scholarship, lasting from 8 to 10 months, is to carry out one's own research project at Stanford University School of Medicine related to the subject of the doctoral dissertation. The scholarship is part of the Junior Research Award program and is offered in cooperation with Rogala Lab. The call for applications is open until 6 September this year.

 

Graduate Student Award 2025-2026

 

A program for people with Polish citizenship interested in starting a second or third degree in the United States, providing funding for the first year of study in the amount of up to USD 47,000, with the possibility of extension for another year. Applications are accepted for all fields of study except for medical studies requiring direct contact with patients, LLM (Master of Laws) and MBA (Master of Business Administration) programs, with the exception of the LLM in International Human Rights Law program co-funded by the Commission in cooperation with the University of Notre Dame.

Mobility is possible at any accredited university. Applicants must hold a master's degree by June of the year of departure. The call for applications is open until 22 April this year.

Graduate Student Award LLM in International Human Rights Law at University of Notre Dame 2025-2026

 

As part of the Graduate Student Award competition, you can apply for a one-year scholarship to pursue an LLM in International Human Rights Law at the University of Notre Dame. Applicants must have a master's degree in law and Polish citizenship. The scholarship is offered in partnership with the Law School of the University of Notre Dame. The curriculum topics include: civil and political rights, global racial justice, religious freedom, international criminal law on mass crimes and authoritarianism, as well as aspects of economic, social, and cultural rights related to the challenges of global poverty, sustainable development, cross-border abuses of human rights by corporations, climate change and environmental degradation, and many others. The requirements and selection procedure remain the same as for candidates for the Graduate Student Award program. The call for applications is open until 22 April this year.

Senior Award 2025-2026

 

A program that allows persons with Polish citizenship employed in Polish academic and scientific institutions to carry out independent research and teaching projects at a host institution in the United States (i.e. at a U.S. university, non-profit research institute, or government institutions). The scholarship, lasting from 3 to 10 months, is addressed to research and teaching staff at any stage of their careers after obtaining their doctoral degree. We accept applications from all fields, with the exception of projects requiring direct contact with the patient. The call for applications is open until 5 June this year.

 

STEM Impact Award 2024-2025

 

A program for people with Polish citizenship who lead research projects in STEM areas and are employed in Polish academic and scientific institutions. The scholarship allows you to carry out a short-term (2-6 weeks) research, teaching or research and teaching project and to expand your knowledge in the field of commercialization of science or effective writing of grant applications in institutions in the United States. The scholarship is intended for research and teaching staff with experience in managing research projects and supervising the work of other scientists. The call for applications is open until 20 May this year.

The BioLAB Program

 

The BioLAB Program offers one-year long (July to June/July) research traineeships to students enrolled in a Master or PhD degree programs in Poland in life sciences, biophysics or medical fields of study. Traineeships will be completed at one of the four host institutions in the U.S.: University of Virginia, University of Chicago, Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation and UT Southwestern Medical Center.

DAAD
