Wroclaw Medical University has educated several generations of students, helped thousands of scientists spread their wings, and, through the University Clinical Hospital, provides the highest quality treatment. We want to change for the better, therefore we are investing in new infrastructure and teaching tools while maintaining respect for tradition at the same time. Today, thanks to the commitment of our students and scientists, Wroclaw Medical University is at the forefront of Polish medical universities and is present in prestigious international academic rankings, such as the Shanghai Ranking, CWUR or Best Global Universities.
The history of our university dates back to the post-war years, when the Faculty of Medicine was established at the joint University of Wroclaw and Wroclaw Technical University in 1946. In 1950, it was transformed into the Wroclaw Medical Academy, and it became Wroclaw Medical University in 2012.
In 1950, 2,109 students - future doctors, dentists and pharmacists - studied within our building. Currently, Wroclaw Medical University educates more than 6,000 students in the field of medicine as well as medicine and dentistry (also in English), pharmacy, medical analysis, nursing, obstetrics, medical rescue, physiotherapy, dietetics and public health, also doctoral and postgraduate students.

We strive to create the best conditions for learning and development for our students, which the Medical Simulation Centre has significantly expanded. Future pharmacists and analysts attend classes conducted in the high-end laboratories of the Faculty of Pharmacy, while paramedics practice their skills using virtual reality. Students prepare for practical work with the patient at the University Clinical Hospital, one of the largest and most modern clinical facilities in Poland.
